Good News!
The Forest Service released their final decision on the Hungry Lion project, and mountain bikes got a win! The Forest Service has added the Lion Lake and Desert Mountain trails to the official trail system. While these trails get a fair amount of use, they weren't "official," which meant that doing maintenance on them (and getting funding to do that maintenance) was complicated and difficult. This is a big step in the right direction for trail access in the canyon area, and FAMB will be working with the Forest Service to get those trails fixed up and to re-establish the climbing trail / loop option for Lion Lake. Thanks to everyone that submitted comments on this this project! Mountain bikers came out strong in support of this, and it made a difference! For anyone that has helped maintain these trails in the past, or wants to be involved in the maintenance in the future, shoot us a message.
