There is a wide range of great mountain biking trails in and around the Flathead Valley! Here's just a little bit of what is available!
Some local trail systems and other areas of note:
- Spencer Trails: See North Spencer insert of map - Our local "Freeride" trail system. Pedal up the road or "Big Gulps, Eh," switch your suspension into fun mode, and let 'er rip!
- The Whitefish Trail - Popular multi-use trails. Very XC and family friendly. Keep your head up and yield to other trail users!
- Pig Farms Trails More popular multi-use trails and lots of options for loops. Take a look at a map; there are a lot of different options!
- Cedar Flats Trails - Columbia Falls backyard trails with many new trails and lots of options for short and long loops; thanks to our friends Gateway to Glacier Trails for all the work they do for this trail system!
- Whitefish Mountain Resort - 30-miles of lift-accessible mountain bike trail for all skill levels. You can also pedal up the "Summit Trail" and ride any of the trails without a lift pass! And take the Reservoir Trail all the way back to town.
- Herron Park - Popular Kalispell-central trails managed by our friends Foy's to Blacktail Trails. Short cross country loops aplenty, or take a look into the classic FTBT Trail from Blacktail Ski area!
- Tally Area Trails - Many moto (and e-bike) friendly trails with many options for longer rides.
- Crane Mountain - home of classic old school trails, there are plenty of rock rolls, techy features, steep chutes, and bar-grabbing tight trees in this zone. As part of the Bug Creek Trail Project, FAMB is building new trail and bringing formerly unsanctioned trails into the USFS trail system in the summer and fall of 2025.
- A7 and Swan Range alpine trails - For those that don't mid a little hike a bike, the Alpine #7 trail other adjacent trails stretch from Columbia Mountain all the way south of Swan Lake.
- Whitefish Range Trails - FAMB is currently working to connect the existing Ralph Thayer Trail to the summit of Big Mountain through the Taylor-Hellroaring Project - but many more classic alpine rides exist North of Whitefish Lake!
- Legacy Bike Park - Our local shuttle-powered (and pedal -powered) bike park. Generally open mid May through mid October, check out their website for more info on tickets and their trail system.
