Flathead Fat Tires, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is raising money to build a pump track in Armory Park in Whitefish! We hope to break ground in Spring 2017, on the current site of the dirt jumps in Armory Park.

You might be asking yourself, “What is a pump track?” A pump track is similar to a scaled down BMX track. The Armory Park Pump Track project will feature rollers, small jumps, and banked turns. The general premise of a pump track is that riders can maintain speed and ride through the track without pedaling, propelling themselves through the track by shifting their body weight and pumping throughout the track contours. The track connects in a loop, thus enabling a skilled rider to continuously lap the track without stopping.

Why a Pump Track?
  • Promotes healthy, physical outdoor activity
  • Low risk environment for cyclists of all ages and skill levels
  • Affordable and accessible for families
  • A community effort supported by donors and volunteers
  • Minimal environmental impact
  • Low initial costs and low maintenance costs
  • Minimal risk/liability
  • Simple & fun bike skills practice area!
